Steve Biko

A leader in the anti-apartheid movement, Steve Biko championed the philosophy of Black Consciousness, urging people to reclaim their dignity and self-worth in the face of oppression. His courage in speaking out against injustice, despite the dangers, is something I deeply admire.

He proved that ideas can be just as powerful as action in the fight for equality. Even in death, his legacy lived on, fueling the resistance against apartheid and inspiring generations to stand up for their rights. It saddens me deeply that he was murdered at such a young age. Peter Gabriel sings a beautiful tribute to Biko.
